About Windridge park ChildCare Centre

We are a play-based program that focuses on the whole child: physical, emotional, social and cognitive.

We believe children learn best by ‘doing’. We provide a quality program with quality materials that encourages that.

We respect each child as an individual and want each child to be setup for success in our program and subsequently in life long learning.

Our teaching team includes fully qualified Early Childhood Educators, Educational Assistants, as well as Early Childhood Teachers-in-training and all are trained in First Aid.

History of Windridge park preschool & ChildCare Centre

The year was 1985, and Jan Argent and her friend and Early Childhood Education colleague, Diane Prescott, were envisioning operating their own play based preschool in the East Seymour Area of North Vancouver. This was the same year that the North Vancouver Recreation Commission was planning new facilities at the Ron Andrews Recreation Centre. Jan & Diane approached Gary Young, then the Director of Recreation, and shared their ideas with him. He encouraged them to go ahead with their plans, and in September of 1986, Windridge Park Preschool opened its doors in the brand new facilities at Ron Andrews.

During the past years, hundreds of families from the Seymour/Deep Cove area have attended Windridge Park Preschool. Many of the graduates of our preschool have now completed university studies and some are married with families of their own.

Jan Argent retired from Windridge in 2009 and having mentored Anne Teevan for many years, Anne humbly stepped into the role of owner of Windridge Park Preschool.

In 2015 we evolved from "Preschool" to "ChildCare Centre" as required to be able to accept full-day placements.

Anne and her team of teachers are proud and happy to carry on Jan's wonderful legacy. Windridge Park Preschool & ChildCare Centre is a fully licenced, independently owned centre and is governed by Vancouver Coastal Health.

Our programs

3 & 4 Year Old - Preschool
(1/2 Days)

Our play-based morning session is from 8:30am - 12:30pm. The afternoon session is from 1:00pm - 3:30pm.

Our ratio is 1 teacher to 8 children (plus Special Needs Aides when required). We also mentor Practicum Students from Capilano University's ECE & ECCE Programs.

Parents can choose morning or afternoon programs and how many days per week to attend.

3 & 4 Year Old - Full School-Day Care

Our full day program is similar to the half-day programs but with a half-hour rest/quiet time between the two sessions. Parents can choose how many days per week to attend.

Full day program children share the resources with the 1/2 day program children and our total capacity is 20 children at a time. Priority in registration is given, whenever possible, to full day registrants.

Preschool Drop-in Sessions

Parents can choose to have children, who are already registered to attend a Windridge Park program on other days, attend as drop-in students during available times.

To arrange this please contact Teacher Anne by telephone or email. Please do not bring your child to a drop in session unless you have received confirmation from Anne or another teacher on Anne's behalf.
